If you have time, take a small detour either the day before or at the beginning of your journey to the medieval village of Dunster. Although this village is not part of the South West Coastal path we feel it’s a must visit place whilst you are in the area. The village has lots to see, several tea shops, cafes and restaurants and lovely independant shops to browse. Dunster Castle, owned and managed by the National Trust, is worth a visit. The village became a centre for wool and cloth production, the ancient Yarn Market sits in the centre of the village and there are the remains of a Benedictine priory, a working watermill, dovecote and Tithe Barn. There’s so much more to see you can easily lose a couple of hours wandering round the village. Parking: Dunster - Dunster Steep TA24 6AS - 109 spaces. Suitable for motorhomes.
