Set on the tip of the Roseland Peninsula, St Mawes is a small village opposite Falmouth looking out on to Percuil River and Carrick Roads from the far end of the village near the Castle. The village has traditional fishing cottages, places to eat and shops to browse. It’s a lovey walk from the carpark to the Castle. If you have time the tour round St Mawes Castle is worth a visit. St Mawes Castle, constructed by Henry VII, is part of a chain of forts built between 1539 and 1545 helping to counter an invasion threat from Catholic France and Spain. Parking: Cornwall Council car park as you enter the village centre.
